Jail doctor gets 5 years for sex assault of inmate

Associated press - NOVEMBER 8, 2013

WASHINGTON — A former doctor at the D.C. Jail has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually assaulting a male inmate who went to him for medical care.

Thirty-seven-year-old Lewis Jackson of Atlanta was sentenced Friday in Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Jackson pleaded guilty in January to one count of second-degree sexual abuse.

According to government evidence, Jackson did contract work at the jail. Prosecutors say Jackson sexually assaulted the inmate in November 2008. The inmate immediately reported the assault.

Jackson was sentenced in February to more than two years in prison for sexually assaulting inmates he treated at the federal penitentiary in Atlanta.
